Memorial gifts — something they can keep

When someone dies, the flowers arrive in the first week and are gone by the second. A memorial gift is the thing that stays: a wind chime on the porch with their name, a candle for the anniversary, a stone for the garden. Each piece here is personalized with a name and dates, made to order in the US with a proof before engraving, and sent with a card we write by hand in your words.

Memorial Gifts: questions

What is an appropriate memorial gift?

Something with their name on it that lives somewhere — a porch, a garden, a shelf. Wind chimes, garden stones and candles are sent most. Avoid anything that needs the grieving person to do something.

When should I send a memorial gift?

Any time. The first week is crowded with flowers; the second month and the first anniversary are when a gift is noticed most.

What should the engraving say?

The name and the years. If you add a line, keep it short and in plain words — a phrase they used, or "Always loved". We'll send a proof.

Can you write the card?

We handwrite the card with the words you give us. If you don't know what to say, "Thinking of you. — Anna" is enough.

Can it ship directly to them?

Yes. Their address at checkout, your email for the proof. Nothing in the package shows a price.

Choosing a memorial gift

The useful question is not "what would they like" but "where would it live". A porch: a wind chime. A garden: a stone. A mantel: a candle or a frame. A sofa: a blanket. A tree at Christmas: an ornament.

Personalize with restraint. The name and the years are enough. A line, if any, should be something the person actually said or a plain phrase. Nothing that tells the grieving person how to feel.

Timing. Flowers cover the first week. A memorial gift lands best a month later, on the birthday, or on the first anniversary — when everyone else has gone quiet.

Losing a pet is its own grief and has its own collection; the same rules apply.

The card. We write what you give us, by hand. Short is fine.
