Sympathy Gifts: questions
What's the difference between a sympathy gift and a memorial gift?
A sympathy gift is for the person grieving (comfort — a candle, a blanket, a box). A memorial gift is about the person who died (a name, dates, a place for it). Both are here; many people send one of each.
What is a good sympathy gift instead of flowers?
A candle or a blanket, boxed, with a handwritten card. It arrives after the flowers are gone and doesn't need water.
How quickly can it arrive?
Non-personalized boxes and candles ship in 1–2 business days; engraved pieces take 2–5 after the proof. Tell us the service date if it matters.
What do I write in the card?
One or two sentences in your own voice. "I'm so sorry. I'm here whenever you want company." We'll write it by hand.
What to send, and when
The first week: if you want to send something now, make it easy — a candle, a blanket, a box with tea. Nothing they have to assemble, water or answer.
After the first month: this is when people stop calling. A memorial gift with the name — a wind chime, a stone — says you haven't forgotten.
The first anniversary and the birthday: a candle with the name and the date, sent to arrive the day before.
What to avoid: anything with instructions about grief, anything that needs a reply, anything with a price visible. We remove the price and write the card.
